JD 750
I have a John Deere 750 that is stock except for a FEL. I would like to add rear hydraulic QD to power a log splitter. The valve that I am thinking that I can tap into is just under the seat. I show it labeled as In and OUT. The FEL is currently receiving oil flow through this valve. My idea would be to feed a diverter valve from this point, which would allow one to select the flow to the rear for log splitter use or the FEL for loader use. I do not require both to be used at the same time. Any help would be appreciated. I have checked with my JD dealer, and not much help as parts for this addition are no longer available.

I would suggest that if the FEL valve has PB, to interrupt that line to the 3pt and add a QD for the log splitter.

When not using the log splitter, make a short jumper and connect the PB line to the 3pt.

Another way is to run the PB line to a two way selector valve. One port goes to the log splitter line and the other goes to the 3pt. Your log splitter return hose will go to any return line.

That should work just fine.

Thanks guys; have also been considering and pricing a PTO pump, but think I will try the above idea. I am concerned that if I accidently shift to the PB with no attachment connected, I may blow the pump. Is there a built-in pressure relieve valve in the JD750, or would I need to add one?

You should be using the PB from the loader in any case.

The hyd flow has to be flowing at all times.

I would add a remote valve and plug the log splitter into the remote valve.

Same valve could be used for T-N-T, or whatever function you might need.

You can add an external relief valve anywhere in the series path.
