Power Beyond and Loader Simultaneous Operation

Ok educate me a little further. I have two choices here that will work in my application and budget. It would appear that one of these has a brake and the other does not.

45.6 CU IN WHITE DT SERIES HYD WHEEL MOTOR

45.6 cu in WHITE HYD 712750W8A31AAAA MOTOR W/BRAKE

There also appears to be other ports on these motors other than the two hoses for the spool. Does the brake require seperate plumbing? What is the third port on the side of the motor with no brake?
IMO, you dont want the brake, that would be needed if you wanted it to stop as soon as the pressure came off, but that's not needed on a auger.

On the 3rd port, its called a case drain, lots of into on that here, but it needs a no pressure drain line back to the hydraulic fluid tank.

The motors are both $399, so it's your choice.

Case line will be a separate line back to tank.

Actually the one with the brake is $279, $120 cheaper than the one without. I will prbably purchase the one without the brake even though it is higher, it has less moving parts, and will not require the diverter valve or plumbing.

I called the Surplus Center technical support and they said that as long as I am not going to be exceeding the motor pressure or flow, that I could plug the case drain. Is that correct? Can I just plug it since I am only going to have 2100 psi and 17 gpm. The motor is rated at 2500psi and 25 gpm cont.

My old tired eyes deceived me, You are right on the price. On the one motor, you have to add a hub.

However, I would use case the drains. You never know how high a pressure spike could go.

If you don't know if high pressure seals are used, here is an excerpt from a hyd article.

{ When in doubt, use high-pressure shaft seals or connect the case drain port to the reservoir with its own dedicated plumbing. }

Here is some data on White DT motors.

The case drain certainly complicates the project. Can that be tapped into the control spool tank return? how should it be plumbed? What kind of line etc.

My pump only produces 2125psi I will have the relief on my control set to 2000psi, I should never see a spike that exceeds the 2500 psi. Additionally this motor has 3000 psi int. rating.

If, don't NEED the case drain, and it is not going to cause other problems not having it, then I would prefer to leave it off. Remember, I am not going to using this as a wheel motor which was designed for only a post auger with short runs of usage.

However, if the chance is good that I am going to damage my motor or system by not having it then I will have to make plans for that as well.

More info please!!

Just run a line straight to tank from the case drain. Not a big deal.

All of the hyd motors on my Power-Trac have case drains as all the PTO attachments that use hyd motors, and they have a dedicated case drain line direct to tank.

It is just not a good idea to second guess if the motor uses a high pressure seal.

There is a good chance that if there is a high pressure seal, that the motor might not have a case drain.

However if the motor has a low pressure seal, and you plug the case drain, you could very well ruin the motor, and maybe not at first, but over time the seal would would eat away at the shaft and cause problems.

Ok, so I install a case drain. Can it be connected through a "T" and QD through the control valve return? What kind of line should it be?

This is going to be an attachment I take off and use periodically so I need it to be easy to change.

I would recommend separate hose to tank with no restriction.

Three QD's, In, out, drain to auger motor. My drain hoses are 1/4 in.
