Anyone using the TSC or Northern Tool type splitter on a newer 3x20 series with Power Beyond? The PB set-up on my 3320 has 3 connections--the "normal" loop, and an extra connection on the left hand side (when viewed from the rear). It's not clear to me how to set-up the splitter in this arrangement. If you run the splitter from the loop output and then back into the loop input (the way you would on the older version of the PB) that's fine--but what's that other connector for?? Maybe a higher flow--direct return to the tank? If you use the output from the "loop" can you return thru the third connector (this would leave the "loop" apparently disconnected??)? I just want to find out the "right'" way to use this version of the rear hydraulics without doing any damage. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
B8fish

PS--and BTW, what is the size and style of those PB fittings--I don't see them readily at my local TSC?

I've attemptd to add a pic from the JD Parts site.

That other connector should be the direct return to the tank, dis-abling the 3PH. you would use that for a BH.
The logsplitter should be connected to the "normal loop"

KennyD--thanks. Do you use all 3 connections with a BH? Still wondering on the size and style of the actual PB fittings--so I can get the hoses etc. from TSC when I get the splitter.

No you dont use all three connectoins for BH.Just unplug the loop (hose)and cap the male end of hose and set a side. Now use right side outlet for pressure and left side for return.

I just got thru adding PB to my 4300 a couple of weeks ago (the new style like yours)and it didnt make sense to me either until I hooked up the BH,then it clicked.

Kennyd,

The manual that came with the power beyond option on my 3320 calls for using the direct return connection whenever any implement is attached. As you point out this disables the 3PH operation as the rockshaft unit is by-passed.

You suggest the "normal loop" operation can be used with a log splitter (thus retaining 3PH operation). Is your suggestion based on the much smaller fluid flow required to operate the splitter vs. a BH? While retaining 3PH operation while using a splitter is desirable, I'm somewhat cautious about going against the operators manual.

Woody,
I believe the manual assumes you will use the PB(PowerBeyond) for a BH(BackHoe). In that case, disabling the 3PH is a necessity.
For a LS(LogSpitter), having the 3PH operational is very desirable so you can adjust the height.

My suggestion is based on the fact that either loop has fluid flow available for use, the only difference is where it goes-either the tank or to the rockshaft.
The "flow" rate of a LS vs. a BH has nothing to due with my reasoning, neither uses any fluid from the flow when they are at neutral.

My 3130 has two lines for the back hoe. If I hook up a log splitter up to these I assume my 3ph will not operate. How do I hook up the log splitter and still use the 3ph? Is installing rear remotes the only way to accomplish this?
