RPK,
Just so I understand correctly, your PB setup only has TWO connectors? It is different from the picture posted above?

Kennyd;

I have a female type quick disconnect and a small length of hose with a male type of connector at the back of the tractor. A hose from the backhoe connects to the female quick disconnect and the hose from the tractor connects to the backhoe. When the BH is off the tractor the hose has to be connected to the female connecto rat the rear of the tractor I assume so the fluid will circulate properly.

Woody,
I believe the manual assumes you will use the PB(PowerBeyond) for a BH(BackHoe). In that case, disabling the 3PH is a necessity.
For a LS(LogSpitter), having the 3PH operational is very desirable so you can adjust the height.

My suggestion is based on the fact that either loop has fluid flow available for use, the only difference is where it goes-either the tank or to the rockshaft.
The "flow" rate of a LS vs. a BH has nothing to due with my reasoning, neither uses any fluid from the flow when they are at neutral.

Kenny, thanks for the reply. So it appears that the new power beyond design with the rockshaft bypass option has nothing to do with fluid flow considerations but only with making sure that the 3PH is disabled when operating a BH. Not being familiar with a JD BH mounting configuration, I had not thought of this.

You should be able to plumb the LS into that loop, just have to get the right couplers and size of hose.

That is the way I see it;)

Good info--thanks all (especially KennyD). Still would like to know what size and style the actual fittings are on the PB. Are they 1/2" or 3/4", poppet style or some thing else? At TSC they actually have fittings that say--"old style JD", not sure if these are the correct ones or not. The list of fittings on-line (at surplus center etc.) is pretty long with a lot of different styles/types and just want to make sure to get the correct ones the first time. Also--does the 3rd SCV use the same style and size?

B8,
Which couplers will fit you remotes can sure be a mystery!
The couplers JD uses are made by Parker, and should have a part number on them that you can Google search. My 4110 uses 1/4" couplers, you probably have 3/8" on your machine. I went through all the searching, and trying to find online suppliers and all the headaches...finally I just ended up buying them at the JD parts counter at my dealer. They probably were a little more expensive, but at least I knew what I was getting, and could take them back if they did not fit. Having good parts guys when your trying to do a custom job can be invaluable! Also, learn to use JDparts.com to help figure out what you need.
Let me know if I can help more...

Kenny--thanks. I'm OK using JDParts--and after a little more investigation I have the sizes. Not sure why they only list the actual sizes for the female couplers and not the male plugs? Also--as an FYI the "new" style PB hookups are not all the same size--that third fitting off to the side appears to be 3/8" while the others appear to be 1/2".

Great, I'm glad you got it figured out, now you can help the next guy!

I guess the different size couplers are so when you plug in the BH, it can only go into the one that disables the 3PH?

On a semi-related note to this thread.... if one's only planned use for rear hydraulics is a log splitter, would it be best to just bungee open a rear SCV as opposed to adding a PB kit? And/or can you add the Deere PB kit w/o effectively disabling the 3PH?
