Power Beyond Question

Hello, A couple of years ago I purchased a Koyker 75 backhoe attachment for my John Deere 4500. I bought it with the remote hydraulic pump running off of the PTO, however I decided that I wanted to utilize the full benefits of the tractor power so I installed a power beyond kit. Two questions come to mind - 1) How do I know if the remote SCV is an open center system as my tractor has the open center system - how do I make it an open center system if it isn't an open center system. 2) Once I connect the hydraulic hoses it makes the 3 point hitch inoperable, how do I overcome this problem? What do I need to do to make the 3pt work when the power beyond is connected to a remote device? Thanks for taking the time in reading this. Roger

First of all, if your backhoe has a PTO driven pump it is not connected to your tractor hydraulics. It is it's own seperate and independent entity. If you disconnected the PTO pump and connected the backhoe to the tractor hydraulics via the power beyond option then I would think that that might be ok, depending on the backhoe.

On an open center system the hydraulic punp is always pumping fluid thru the system. Your JD 4500 is an open center system.

As for how to make the connections on the JD system, you might want to ask this question in the JD Owning and Operating forum. I am sure someone there can be more specific than I could ever be.

Did you connect the return line from the power beyond to the return line of the tractor system? If so this is your problem. Common mistake. Return line must go back into pressure line on tractor. Wet lines when not in use must be connected together. Hope this resolves your problem. Been there, learned the hard way years ago.
