I would like to get a norwood wood spliter for my tractor but I don't know anything about installing the power beyond option for the hyd. power from the tractor, any help out there.

Kevin, look down further in this forum to a thread called "Remotes" by Fullthrottle and you will see illustrations of the NH remote valves I posted. For $300 to $600 you can install one or all of these on your tractor. With them, you should be able to get your log splitter going.

Thanks Jim, I have seen your pics of the remotes and I plan on installing 2 on mine. But I thought that there was another option that would supply constant hyd. flow to a splitter with it's own valve.

Kevin, I don't think there is any "good" way to do that and on checking my Service Manual, I don't see a way to rig power beyond. I think you will most likely have to use one of the remotes and connect it to an open center valve on your splitter with the return line going to the fluid reservoir (remove the filler cap and drop in the return line like many post drivers do). You would then open the appropriate remote valve lever and "rig" it to stay open while you controlled your splitter at its control valve. I could be terribly wrong here, but that's my best guess. Perhaps someone else will have a better answer.

I know on the 20 series tractors, when a backhoe (NH) is installed, one of the three ports on the hyd. manifold is tapped into to supply constant flow to the hoe. This is done by removing the steel line to the valve and putting a hose with quick couplers in place of it. This would be at the power beyond port of the manifold. Your dealer should be able to point out which port it is. The purpose of the quick couplers is to make removal and installation of the attachment possible because it is not hard plumbed, (You would have long hoses from your splitter to hook up to the quick couplers). When hooking up the attachment, you uncouple the connections and plug in your splitter there by diverting flow from out of the loader control valve to the splitter control valve instead of back to sump. When removing the splitter, recouple the connections on the tractor and flow will be returned to normal. Hope this isn't too confusing.
The other alternative is to hook up to the rear remotes and bungee cord the control lever.

The ports should be marked on the manifold, PB for power beyond which actually uses pressure from the front remote to supply your three point hitch, T for tank, and P for pressure.

This is what my dealer suggested for running a splitter .... It doesn't sound like the best alternative to me but I wasn't going to worry about it til I owned a splitter -- if you work it out - let me know... I have 1 rear remote for my top cylinder on my box blade - and that's it. (TC45)

Plumbing kit part # 715431006 is for plumbing a 758c NH backhoe to a TC45D. It will get you constant hydraulic flow to the three point hitch area of your tractor. Down side is that when the splitter is plumbed in, your three point hitch may not raise but I'm not sure. Worst case, set the splitter to the height that you want it before you hook up the hydraulics, and don't let it down.
