So in the land of paranoia...

I have been hearing a funny grinding noise coming from one of the pumps. I swear it had not been their before, but that is pretty typical of me to think this and it not be true.

So going up a hill today, the tractor bogged down. It has been a LONG time since I went up this hill, and it is very steep (30 degrees). I remember just running up the hill, no bogging down.

But what I am thinking is that I am really full of crack. That if the engine is bogging down then at least the power pump to the wheel motors is in great shape, and that the motors are in great shape otherwise the engine would just rev and I would just not get up the hill.

Just making sure on this.

If a bearing was going south in the pump, that would cause this. Also, if a bearing was going in the engine, that would cause this. Either way, the bearing would overheat pretty quickly. I would think that you would notice something when looking under the hood while running the motor.

Hopefully it is just paranoia as you say. I get that way too sometimes.

My experience is with the 1845 but I find that climbing anything over about 20 degrees requires a "downshift"--backing off the treadle and slowing the ground speed to keep revs up without bogging down. Up to about 20 degrees I can keep the treadle floored going up a hill.
