Power & mileage chips for a 2002 Ford Powerstroke 7.3

I previously had an 2004, 6.0 and had an Edge. It gained 3 mpg and never afected anything.
I purchased an 2006, 6.0 and got talked into a Superchip, I lost 3 mpg.
I called the company that manfactured it and the company that sold it to me, the both blew me off like I was an idiot.
The next one will be an Edge.

Thanks to all that replied, from reading all of these, it looks like the edge is on top. Now I need to figure how to lock up the torque converter to get better mileage or does the edge do that automatically ? and is it changeable to different speeds depending on load.
