Why don't they put power points (cig lighters) on tractors? They would be great for portable compressors, work lamps and spot lights for jack lighting. I'd put one on mine but there is no place to pick up 12vs all the wiring is sealed.

They can be fitted on a 'as needs basis'. I wouldn't fit one as they tend to rust out very quickly.

Go to a marine dealer and pick up one with a water proof outlet cover. I have one on my boat that has been there for over 5 years and still perfect. It is not a dash mount but flat surface mount and when not in use the cap makes it watertight. I have used it in salt water fishing and no corrosion. I ran direct from battery with inline fuse so it is hot all the time but you should be able to come off the ignition wires to jump one if you only wanted it powered when the ignition is on.
I used mine for GPS so I wanted it on all the time.

i can confirm, the marine ones, i have one at the rear for the beacon rotating light, i also have a car one in under the dash for incase i need it, you could run some wires back to the battery and use a water proof fuse holder

I mounted a regular cigar lighter up under the roof beside the Pioneer radio. Radio lasted about 8 years, lighter quit shortly after...

I added a 12v outlet to my Deere 4400. There's not much to it as long as you plan a bit.
Definitely go with the marine type plugs!

One thing I will reiterate from that thread...use 12 gage wire (I used 14 gage). Every inline fuse pigtail I've seen use 12 gage wire, so I had to do a workaround when installing the fuse. Don't repeat my mistake!

My Kioti RX6010 comes with a cig lighter socket in the cabin.
It will get used to power a drink cooler

I have a 71 model 4020 john deere that came with a cig. lighter.
Maybe it is the brand you have that is the problem.:laughing:
