I'm going to purchase a 4720 or 5030 w/cab within the next two weeks. The tornado's that came thru Ky. last year took down 39 of my biggest tree's. in my 12 acre yard. I used my 75TNS NH supersteer to get all of the trees up. I then had the stumps ground, removed the bark with my loader, brought in 6o tri-axle loads of top soil and spread the dirt where the stumps had been cleaned up. Since I have sold my big farms the 75 TNS is to big for my yard. Would I be better to buy and use a power rake or buy a reverse tine tiller and then use a gill behind that. I have many bad places in my yard to fix. Have a great x-mas, thanks Chase

Go with the power rake because you will disturb only the top couple of inches of soil. That's really all you need to do. The reverse-tine tiller is more likely to go too deep and bring up more trash.

You can angle a power rake to windrow the stones for easier removal. If your topsoil was clean, you will have very little stone & debris clean-up.

The power rake will also do a better job of leveling and leaving a finished seedbed.

Tornado's do a bunch of damage, don't they?

I have a reverse tiller. It is great for preparing soil. It's design leaves the soil on top and puts the stones and trash below the soil. Here is a picture of my sons front lawn after it was tilled. Click Here. Notice the foot prints. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Here is a diagram of how a reverse tine tiller works.

I don't know which would be better for your project. But from the post that I have seen on TBN a Power Rake may be better. I have the tiller because it allows me to do more than prepare a lawn. Plus its was a lot cheaper.
Here is a good thread on a Power Rake. It includes a series of pictures showing how well the Power Rake works. Click Here

I had never heard of a reverse tiller before seeing your post. Who makes them and how much do they cost?

Mine is a 52"<font color="orange"> Kubota </font>. I bought mine as a demo from dealer. It normally sells for about $2500. I belive I bought it for $1800 plus tax.
It takes more power to run a reverse tine tiller.
Land pride and others also make reverse rotation tillers.

THanks. Looks interesting. I'll check out the LandPride tiller.

<font color="orange"> Kubota </font> still offers the reverse tine models. FL1021RC and FL1271RC. Forgot to post that information. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
