Power Service in a Storage Tank

The cetane enhnacers are very unstable molecules similar to nitroglycerin and other exothermic explosives, and when they decompose naturally they cause a chain reaction that affects millions of other diesel fuel hydrocarbon molecules for each molecule of 2-Ethylhexylnitrate (which is why 2-EHN is such a good cetane enhancer at only 100 parts per million)!

The storage conditions would have to be ideal, ie no exposure heat, light, oxygen or other chemicals which would speed up their autodegredaton which is occuring all the time.....

The back of the STA-BIL bottle states that it "Does not contain alcohol." /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Yes, now I am really confused.

My four quart bottles of STA-BIL all specifically state that they contain NO ALCOHOL too.

Who said it is 95% Isopropanol????? /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

JerryG - with the exception of the biocide PS doesn't claim to prepare fuel for long term storage. I'm sure it's a good product for truckers and farmers (if they add it to the equipment tank) that can suck down a lot of fuel quickly.
Anyone that uses enough diesel to amount to anything isn’t going to put PS in as they use it. They are going to put it in their bulk tank. If it degrades the fuel so bad, it would be causing problems. It is NOT causing problems and never has. And all that is happening here is some people will get scared to use it and that is ridiculous. The degradation is nothing but a mountain out of a molehill, nothing else. That is unless you are keeping your fuel stored for several years.

Jerry,

Finally a voice of reason in a sea if misinformation and untruths. Good job.

I agree, the terminals blend in additive and it does not cause problems.
