What kind of spring are we talking about, pull, compression, torsion, what size, any pictures? Hardware stores and HD have all kinds of generic springs that can be easily modified.

"Compression" is normal in a relief spring.

All you have to do is stretch a correctly sized "pull" spring and you have a compression spring. Been making them for years.

Out of curiosity, did you have to call 150+ dealers, risk your reputation of "excellence" and face family belittlement before you found one?
Couldn't help myself (a little BENKOHN thread humor..if you don't get it, don't worry, it's not aimed at you).
