I would like to inquire as to how the power shift 1610 operates. I am familiar with hydrostatic transmisons and partial on large JD and TA on CI. Thanks

The gears are constant mesh. There is little power loss that way. The shifting is done with hydraulic operated clutches. When it is in gear it is locked in gear. If you put on the brake without using the clutch it is like doing it on a standard transmission. I have been told it was built for the rental industry. It is supposed to be " bullet proof ".

I have a YM1110D and noticed that when in gear, I can cause the tractor to stop by using the brakes. At first I thought it was a bad clutch, but when I run the tiller and stop the tractor with the brakes, the tiller is still turning. When I do this, the engine does lug down considerably, but doesn't stall. To me, this means that the internal hydraulic clutches are slipping. Is this normal? If not, how hard is it to replace the powershift clutches?
