For those of you who have a power shuttle, I am preaching to the choir. As some of you may know, my PS did not work (used TN 70A, problems with Texas dealer fixing it). I took the PS to an NH AG dealer in WI and by simply reconnecting a switch, the PS worked as designed. When I got the tractor home, I sort of wondered if I would ever use the PS. The clutch was so easy to use, I thought, what is the big deal with a PS? Now I know.
After 5 hours of "learning" the PS makes me look like a star. I was spreading 3/4 inch traffic bond on my driveway. Drove within inches of the house. Engine rpm 1000, 1st gear, just creeping while back dragging with the FEL in float. Pull the PS lever back into neutral, tractor stops, then just slip it into reverse and at 1000 rpm, gently go backwards. Did this for 2 hours, 1000 rpm, 1st gear, back and forth, smooth as butter, over and over again. WOW! Double WOW!!
I can never give up my PS. Benefits like being able to run at 1000 rpm to do this light work. Low noise and low fuel consumption. No need for any clutch use.
So, for all of you who own and use a PS, I now understand. If you have never used a PS, find a friend who will let you use one for a few hours.
