Power Steering for B7100 and others?

Has anyone tried replacing the steering box on these tractors with a small P/S box off say a Mazda P.U.? I realize you would have to make a support for the steering column but that can be done. This would be helpful for loader work. I think the next time I am at Pull A Part I will look over some of the import cars and P.U.s to see what may work. Or is there a better why to do this?

I haven't seen anyone using a p/s box off a car, but have seen someone use a pump. I plan on adding one to my setup because I don't like losing p/s when using my loader. Check out the link in my signature for how I did it. There is a bunch of other people's setup on this site you just need to look around. I think some are linked in my post.

I used a power steering pump off a Maxima and a Sauer Danfoss steering valve. The hardest piece to fab was the steering column and support for the dash board. I did not want to use the tractors pump because it was already running my loader.

A recirculating ball power steering box from an old GM product would make a good bolt on in place of the B7100 steering box. Just have to add the steering wheel to the top. Pitmant arm should be easily adaptable to the existing steering gear.:thumbsup:

The problem I found when looking at car steering boxs was the size. There is not too much room to mount a large box.

The old ones from GM were quite small and would make a very good fit with minimal modifications.
