Jasper -- I know it is more expensive but try and go with #6 if you can. No harm in going with the bigger wire and in comparison with all the other stuff to meet code it is cheap. Put a warning tape on the board.When I did my outbuilding I could only find #6 in waterproof , not # 8

Is #8 what your electrician recommended? Seems awfully light for that distance.
I would go heavier. On kijijihalifax there is #2 150' for 500 bucks - incredible price.
