No way. I slide down hills sideways into fences on purpose. It makes neat mowing stripes -- and tire tracks from the pullout vehicle.

When I worked at the airport everything was always pilot error. No matter what it was, pilot error. The pilot could have been sitting in an airplane on a clear blue day and lightning could come out of nowhere and blow the plane to infinity, and it was still pilot error... his error? He made the mistake of getting out of bed that day! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Or, as I've heard Air Force maintenance guys describe it -- it was a "seat ballast malfunction..."

I'm loving this thread... I've got an experience to share.

Got hung up on a tree this weekend... again... for the umpteenth time... as always, on a hill... a steep hill...

The mower and the front wheels clear the tree but the rear wheels hang up on it. Once that's happened, you're toast. Why? Because the PT is sliding down the hill as it is traversing it and there's no way to climb back up the hill (you know, a HILL -- 30-40 degree slope type gizmo).

My usual solution (call Marcie, "Help! Bring chain saw! Must cut down another tree!") didn't work -- she was far away collecting seeds. New solution required...

Here's the solution. Work the PT around the tree so that the tree is upslope and the PT is downslope. Presto! I can drive off.

Rear wheels are definitely NOT following the front wheels under those circumstances. I've got tracks to prove it.

Slides don't count. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

But I do like your solution. I'll have to keep that in my bag of tricks.

In my world, that just wraps the PT around the next lower tree /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

And then the next....? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
