WHILE SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR INFORMATION ON TRACTORS USING FRONT MOUNTED IMPLEMENTS, I RAN ACCROSS THE AVANT TRACTOR. ANYONE THAT HASN'T SEEN IT WILL BE INTERESTED IN THE FEATURES. IT DOESN'T HAVE A GOOD DEALERSHIP NETWORK AND IS MORE MONEY THAN THE POWER TRAC, BUT IS A NEAT CONCEPT ANYWAY.
P.S. HAVE REALLY ENJOYED ALL THE MESSAGES IN THIS
FORUM. I AM NOT A POWER TRAC OWNER YET, BUT MAYBE SOME DAY WHEN I GET THE CASH AND CAN FINALLY MAKE UP MY MIND............

Looks like someone started with the basic PT design, and "prettied" it up with lots of curved sheet metal (or maybe plastic?).

Much smaller engine, actually more attachments available then PT has.

It is made in Finland, so I am guessing that there is no way that it can be had for a reasonable price. The one delarer in the US listed does not advertsie it on his website.

I prefer the more practical boxy look of solid plate steel instead of complex curves that look like they belong on a concept car.

I would have to agree with that. Last night I had one of my Ohh S*#T moments, backing into the garage. I Hit the gas a little to much and banged into one of my work tables in reverse.

Man that reverse can get a little weird if you don't have the two foot thing down right. The PT being solid steel plating didn't hurt a thing. If it would have been pretty plastic covering or tin, it may not have been so pretty. I Need to get the springs for under the pedals, and a bumper guard. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I had trouble with reverse as well untill I quit using the left pedal and used toe under lift up on the right pedal for reverse. I find I have more precise control with this method.

The larger units like the 500 look like a MultiOne.

I'll have to give that a try next time I get on it. This was the first time I jumped it in reverse. Just not paying attention. Never the less it is pretty touchy. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I gave the toe under the right pedal for backing up a try today, what a difference. Thanks for the tip, much better. As you said better control. So now with MR's method of loading, and backing up your method of toe under the right pedal.... life is good. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Now you just need a steering wheel spinner knob. You want to turn that wheel in a continous fluid motion and a spinner makes it much easier to do than trying to turn like with a regular vehicle. They should come with one standard, but at least you can pick one up locally for only a few $.

Enjoy learning all the things you can (and should not) do with your new PT.

Yes, that was next on my list of things to get. I Just bought and mounted a good fire extinguisher. The knob would definitely help maneuvering. Thanks for the reminder I'll have to look into that next week. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
