Is it normal to lose a lot of power when executing a sharp turn....it seems like when the power steering pump really cranks (on a very tight turn) it saps a lot of power from not only the wheels, but the PTO as well.

Any thoughts?

Depends a lot on what RPM you have set. Higher RPM will result in a much lower response to this. It is normal and is caused my turning your wheel completely to one side or the other. My owner's manual even addresses this, and says not to keep the wheels in this position for long. I try to turn just to before where the effect happes. It's all about the hydraulics, and not a problem unless you turn full and keep it that way. Remember, it's more pronounced at lower RPM. John

There is a TSB on the CK20's about the power steering relief pressure adjustment. It is set to high and when you turn the wheels left or right you will have power loss. Your dealer should know about this , TSB # 032904 . We have generally seen the pressure set around 1800 psi and it should be set at 1560 psi. Takes about an hour or so to adjust.

Maybe what I'm talking about isn't the same reaction as ChasK is having? On mine is doesn't seem to be any problem unless I'm at really low RPM and only if I keep it turned tight. Should I have this adjusted? John

Ya I would atleast get it checked. All the ones I have checked are running about 1800 psi. All the new CK20s that have a SN# that start with a D are not affected by this.
