I am thinking about buying a generator from them and would appreciate any input. They say they are their design and of their reviews on line they don't sound too bad for the price and what they do. thanks, John

I wouldn't place a great deal of confidence in their reviews. I tried to post a negative review of one of their pressure washers & they would not accept it.

Northern Tool is just like Harbor Freight in that they import from China the lowest possible priced products...
Some of them are good and some are not...
Personally, I have had good luck with the two generators I have purchased from Northern...
The first one was stolen...
Purchased in 1999 and kept it for 11 years until it was stolen...
Changed the oil in it several times and served me well when placed into use...
I paid 1K for it in 1999...
It was 5500 watt surge with 4500 watt continuous...
My new one is 10000 watt surge and 7500 continuous...
I got it for 1K on sale since it was a close out...
It appears to be Chinese and lower quality than the one purchased in 1999...
Very good performance for the price though...
We will see how well it holds up compared to the other unit...

Don't trust the reviews...

I purchased a ETQ generator from Northern Tool. Got almost 5 stars...Turned out to be a piece of junk...

I spoke to one of the engineers that designed it. They worked for b&s,Parted company an started this business. I am sure he said it was manufactured in china an assembled he in the us. Just saying.
Good luck with what ever you do.

Powerhorse products from Northern hydraulics - I am thinking about buying a generator from them and would appreciate any input.

My Experience with PowerHorse:

In September of this year I purchased a PowerHorse bi directional, 20 ton log splitter from Northern.

First:
The assembly manual was next to horrible and I mentioned this in my customer's review/feedback. I got a polite note from Northern saying they would NOT display my review and I should re write it..........

Second:
Happy to report after stumbling thru the directions, I added oil n fuel and it started first pull.

Third:
Also happy to report that now, some 2+ months later I have split 5-6 cords of mostly oak and it works great. I am 62 and now work lots slower and have ringing ears n hate noise thus I do most of my splitting at a RPM just a tad higher than idle and it has lotsO power even at this low RPM setting.

Forth:
What a innovative design and time saver the bi directional splitting capability is.....

Fifth:
The Chinese splitter is lots better than I expected and to date has not disappointed me. Sadly what did disappoint me is the Americans at NothernTool that would not allow me to practice my Freedom of Speech rights about how confusing the assembly manual was in there feedback report section...........

All my purchases involving implements with small gas motors have been the ones with Honda engines. For me the quick start on the 1st or 2nd pull of the rope has outweighed most of the other considerations. I now have Honda powered power washer, generator and leaf shredder.

Just saying.
