Powerservice additive

I don't know about the rest of you but I don't add Power Service to increase my HP, I add it so that my diesel fuel will still flow in the dead of winter. I don't know what is in the diesel when I buy it and I don't want to take that chance. I really don't want to find out when it's too late or too cold that my New Holland wants to sleep in till the weather warms up. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I drop 96 ounces of Power Service in the storage tank before the delivery-man adds 275 gallons of off-road diesel. I know it's a bit of overkill but it can't hurt. I look at Power Service as cheap insurance, don't know if I really need it but I do know that I really want it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Does a 275 gallon tank really hold exactly 275 gallons? I have wondered about this for years. Most tanks are approximately sized and rounded up or down to fit the closes even number that sounds correct.

This is a interesting statement. I see many tanks labeled similar to this.

CAPACITY 375 GAL
WORKING CAPACITY 356 GAL

I guess if you apply a 5% safety factor you never find out that the tank will not hold the max capacity.

My way of thinking is that a 375 gal tank should hold 375 plus some percentage for thermal expansion. Which is the reason for the reduced working capacity in the first place.

I used to see examples of this when I worked on cars. people would fill their gas tanks to the top of the neck on a hot day and park the car. Gas in underground storage is cooler. So when It warns up it expands, and on newer cars with a sealed fuel system and evap purge the charcoal canister gets loaded with fuel. When the car is started and the evap purge solenoid opens the problems start.

I have noticed that the more hours you have on a tractor, the better it works.
Recently helped a neighbor adjust valves on his tractor at 2600 hours, smoked a little under power. Changed out fuel, cleaned tank and new filters but did not make a difference.

Refilled fuel tank 2 days later with the Powerservice mix and there was a big difference - smoke all but gone, runs a little quieter and he says he gets better performance and run time hours now.

I use it in everything I own (diesel).
