Pre-Built Shed or Something Else?

   / Pre-Built Shed or Something Else? #11
dlroy101,

I bought a 12x24 barn style building from Lowes. They build it on site on top of 4x4's. It has 3/4 treated plywood floor and looks good. It was built complete less paint. I paid around $3300 about 4 years ago. Barn type roof allowed me to add shelves and stack alot "junk" in it.

There are several places that will build them on site Home Depot also carried them and they had one that was two story.

This was to be a place for me to store some of my tools and get them out of the basement. After my wife finished moving her storage containers in I was left with about a 5'section for me /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif.

This was a hard thing for me to do, hire someone to build something I could do, but time was not on my side and I was happy with the results.

B21Nut,

Just in case you couldn't find it, here's the discussion (with pics) of Eddie's container barn project. For those who didn't read through this, you should. It'a a study in ingenuity, design and craftsmanship. I had so much fun following this project, I may go back and read it again. Thanks, Eddie, for the reminder.

bmac,

Thanks, your very kind.

One thing I've never figured out how to do is link to another thread. How did you do that?

MorninEddie,
Interesting thread on your metal shipping containers. Thanks Bmac for the link.

Just curious, did you move those containers around to your liking with your bulldozer? They look kinda big to be moved with a CUT.

Thanks again.

They move pretty easy. I had a friends John Deere 450 dozer at the time, and it's a pretty small dozer. But I also used my backhoe and one time my CUT. Remember, they were sitting on gravel, so that allowed them to move around a little easier than if they'd sunk into the ground.

At one point I was worried they weren't heavy enough and was going to pour footings of some kind and anchor them at the corners. But after filling them up and attaching the barn to them, I changed my mind.

The guy who owns it now loves it. He parks a full sized backhoe inside it. He's a pilot and gets about half the month off, so he lives in the little apartment most of that time.

bman,

Thanks for the help on creating links. Now I'm trying to find a good reason to use one. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I moved mine around with a 2 ton "come along" hooked to a pine tree, of coarse that is when it was empty. Now I don't think I could move it with Eddie's dozer /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
