Pre-fill Kohler Oil Filter - Really Necessary?

That little Kohler engine is not exactly like a car engine, so it needs to be pre-filled.
I pre-fill the Kohler filter I have on a ZTR and my C13 Cat (just because it holds a gallon).

Thanks for all the replies. Even Kohler agrees that pre-filling the filter is necessary, as they said when responding to my e-mail. I just wish that they would say as much on their own website! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Ditto.. the hYD filter on my NH 7610s holds exactly 1 gallon, and is the size of a paint can.. ( coincidence? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif )
