Another device that might help is a preluber. Those are intended to pressurize oil before engine startup. I believe the controller started the pump after engine shutdown for a period of time to prevent coking. They used to come in models for applications up to and including large trucks and marine use.

The selling point was that most of the wear in an engine occurred when it was started after setting for a time. Using a preluber was supposed to eliminate that wear for longer engine life.

Less than one atmosphere would be less than 14.7 psi boost wouldn't it? Most truck and industrial engines run a lot more than 14.7 psi...more like 30 or 40. Intercoolers (both air-to-air and air-to-engine-coolant) are standard equipment and have been for years. I had a hose clamp break on an intake hose on a 3406 Cat. The pressure released made a loud enough bang that I thought I'd blown a tire.

Maybe it would be instructive to take a look at what would be considered severe duty on a turbo. Anyone who's familiar with rock quarry operations has watched the articulated loaders work. They are either shut off or running wide open, pretty much all day, with seconds worth of cool down before being shut down. The only oil I have ever seen them use was Chevron or Rotella, both dino.
