Preparing big area for sod, Which attachment

Tiller does not leave smooth bed for grass.
Transition areas between new and existing can be difficult with sod. Easier to plant seed next to existing grass

I "redid" a one acre meadow right at the end on my driveway. Just too many weeds. I mowed it with my JD G100 riding mower. Sprayed it with RoundUp. Disked with with my 3-point disk. Drug it smooth with my home made drag - picture of drag below. Then seeded it. It took a year but now I have a great meadow with mixed types of field grasses.

Have you checked the price of sod? If a tiller isn稚 in the cards this project might be over before it started. A rock hound on a skid steer is the ultimate tool. But serious $$. A Harley rake is the next best. A tiller with a lot of hand debris removal will get the job done. I usually use my Mule to roll the tilled areas back down. It doesn稚 cause the ground compaction other equipment does but its enough to mostly prevent erosion.

Yes, we are are getting 15 pallets of St. Augustine, brought in on Sept 6.

Will a tiller work for the arena area?

Any thoughts of seeding instead of sod?

We are doing St. Augustine to match the rest and they do not sell it in a seed.

UPDATE:
Well I got a disc harrow for really great deal and will be using it.
We are doing St. Augustine sod, getting 15 pallets of sod.
It came out to around 6,500 sqft.

Better get a landscape rake to go behind that disc harrow with.
