G'Day All,

I need some help understanding the best and most economic option for replacing a hose that has sprung a leak. It is a hose associated with the FEL, it is 24 inches long with a straight fitting at each end.

Am I best to find a Kubota dealer and get the factory item, or is one of those hose companies worth a visit. If so what sort of specification should I ask for, i have been on the web sites and there seem to have heaps of options and varies pressure ratings.

Any suggestion on what I should be asking for will help.

Cheers

Ben

Check your local tractor supply store. Mine has ready made hoses of various lengths with male thread on each end and a variety of fittings. Hoses are rated for 3000 PSI. I bought 14' hose and ran lines from my rear remote to the loader for using front hydraulic attachments.

Hydraulic hoses are a wear item that get replaced regularly. Typically folks remove the bad hose, take it to a local shop and have a new one made. A lot of auto parts stores, farm stores and nearly all tractor stores can make them. You can get them online too......problem is their are hundreds of ends (size, shape etc) so you may play heck figuring out what ends you have/need.
Most folks don’t order a factory hose. That would be like asking for a factory tire or factory fan belt. Even the Kubota dealer would probably just make a new one instead of ordering in a “factory” hose.

My dealer doesn't even stock hydraulic hoses. Too easy to source locally and have made.

And since all you know is length and "straight" fittings......I'd just take the hose to a shop and let them duplicate it. If you dont know what the fittings are other than "straight" you risk getting the WRONG fittings.

You can have JIC straight fittings, NPT straight fittings, ORB straight fittings, ORFS straight fittings, BSPP straight fittings, etc etc. Then is it male or female threads? And what size is the threads? What size is the hose?

R16 hose is my go-to hose. Sometimes can be had in some type of "tough cover" option that has a more abrasion resistant outer layer too. For the hose sizes on tractors, the pressure rating is plenty sufficient and they are flexible

Thanks for all of the input, off to see one of the hydraulic business tomorrow. I did speak with my local Kubota dealer, they said they just get the mobile hydraulic services in to resolve the issues.
