I'm going to be looking to purchase a pressure washer in the near future. I'm going to be looking for one with a Honda engine of at least 9 H.P. with at least 3500 P.S.I. and 3.5 G.P.M. I'm told to get one with a Cat pump. I see some with A.R. pumps and some with Cat triplex pumps, some with ceramic plungers. I know little about pressure washers, except if you don't get a good one, you're wasting your money. Looking to spend 1500 + or -. Anyone have a good one they could recommend to me? I want to buy one that will last. What should I be looking for in a H.D. pressure washer? Thanks in advance for the help. I know someone out there must have a good one. If you want to recommend one that I should stay away from, that works also.

I have a Honda pressure washer - not as big as you are looking for but it sure does a job. Mine is 5.5 hp, 3000psi and 3gpm. It does not have a CAT pump. I bought it in 2004 for around $750 and never had a moments problems. I do not know what you plan to use it for but IMO it should not be used on any farm equipment that has grease seals, sealed bearings, unsealed bearings or any kind of engine. Mine will easily take the paint off any new implement - slicker than snot and could easily blow water into any sealed bearing and wash out all the grease. I have NEVER used it on my tractor, chipper, snow thrower - you get the idea.
I have no idea why you need that much pressure but with the pin hole tip on my wand I can easily blow a hole right thru a 2x4. They are not an implement that you want to use around children or without a good understanding of the damage they can inflict.

I do use it to clean my rear blade, grading scraper, bottom plow, roll over box scraper - for everything else I use the garden hose and regular nozzle.

I have an 8 hp honda powered unit 3500 psi, and 3.5 gal per min. The tractor has never had a meeting with it as well. Took the clear coat off a car a few years ago. BE CAREFUL.

Back away a little bit and use the fan nozzle!

You have no idea what you risk. Especially if you use a pressure washer on your tractor - and I DO NOT only meal loosing the clear coat!! The cost of that new shiny washer will be nata compared to the repair/replacement costs for your tractor. But then again - its your choice.

I can highly recommend buying a Simpson brand washer. Simpson sells high quality washers with Honda engines. They are available at most big box stores, but I'd strongly recommend contacting them direct for their recommendation of the place to purchase near you. $1500 will buy a LOT of pressure washer.

The main thing I look for is the gallons per hour output. It's real easy to go overboard on the pressure and it's not the pressure so much that does the cleaning. Anything over 3000 psi can be a dangerous tool also. I fully agree with the other posts that pressure washing your tractor should be done with extreme caution, although I did NOT notice in your posting that washing your tractor was the intended use.

My comments do come from experience. I've totally ruined house siding, but wood and vinyl, car paint, wheel bearings, concrete driveway... You'd think that I'd have learned by now, but then you'd be wrong :)

I just purchased a Yamaha pressure washer. It has everything you want except the Honda Engine. It has a Yamaha engine. I am very happy with it. I think it is at least worth a look.

I pressure washed my tractor yesterday, of course I used the fan nozzle and didn't hold it too close. Never a problem.

Costco has a small Simpson brand washer for $300. I was considering it until I read some online reviews knocking the company's customer service. Have you had any experience with them?
