Pretty Lame Daytona 500

I agree, it was pretty lame.....

However I was racing my Go-Kart at 105mph for 30 minutes on the Daytona 500 SuperSpeedWay last month with my rear end 0.5 inches off the asphalt and that indeed was WAY more exciting than NASCARs drama....

Here is a 325MB helmet cam video that I took during the race, after 30 minutes @ 100+ mph, three of us crossed the finish line within 0.0010 seconds of each other!!! Quite an adreneline rush to say the least!!!

It's been so long that I can't remember being interested in NASCAR. I used to love watching it in the 60's and 70's with Buddy Baker, Cale, Donny and Bobby Allison...etc..etc... but ever since the corporate folks got involved, and NASCAR started making all the engines and vehicles run the same it got boring to me.

For the youngsters on here, do a search for "Tiny Lund". I lived a long time in Moncks Corner SC where Tiny lived, you talk about a driver, he was one of the best, and his story of winning the 1963 500 is the way NASCAR used to be.

Early 80's when Bill Elliotte and the "new" Thunderbirds really got going was cool.

Otherwise, racing wasn't the same after the demise of the aero cars. When the Superbirds, Daytonas, and Torino Talladega's were running... Real stock cars too, not these total hybrids like these days.

I've never understood NACAR (there's nothing Stock about them, I think the "S" is some sort of inside joke). Seems like a bunch of guys practicing left hand turns, I always wonder when they'll graduate to be able to do rights as well

Ihate it when a race ends that way.Jeff GORDAN,MARKMARTIN ,KEVIN HARVICK,AND ? all had fresh tires.If it had gone green a little longer the outcome would have been alot different i do believe.
Ilike having a dvr i paused it at the prerace show,filled the woodrack with the tractor did all my other chores etc.Iwas 45 minutes behind live time when i started watching ,but forwarded through the commercials and after an hour had caught up

Great film Skypup! I think the only thing that kept you out of first was the little bit of drag from the helmet cam.

I just about turned it off when who ever it was, squeaked out the national anthem. I knew from that point on that it would致e been better for me to just go outside.

I like to watch the V-8 Supercars race, they race in the rain.

I also like motorcycle racing, superbike and motocross.

I used to enjoy watching NASCAR years ago. They lost me when they came out with the "Car Of Tomorrow". Now its not even possible to relate to a particular manufacturer. Apparently, even in this economy, they have no trouble filling the stands though...
