Prevent Weeds in Gravel Driveway

Spraying is the way to go, hit up the farm supply for some pramitol. Heavier duty I only have to spray once a year.

I'm less a fan of the Pramitol (Prometon is the herbicide). Most of the time the carrier for this herbicide is a hydrocarbon mix. Specifically it has Xylene, which is a known carcinogen.

Also Pramitol is a root uptake killer, so any plants that have rootsystems under, or near the driveway will take up the herbicide. If you have a driveway through, or near trees you wish to keep this might be a problem.

Pramitol is a great product, for the right applications.

I always thoroughly flush ouy my sprayers no matter what was used in it. Some chemicals can gum things up or take out seals over time if not cleaned out. Once I flush out the sprayer, I let it air dry outside for a few hours before storing it. Mike.

Looking to see if anyone has had any success with preventing weeds from growing in a gravel driveway.
Mine is over 700 feet, so spot-killing is not an option. I just had it redone with processed aggregate, so
1* I cannot place a barrier underneath.
Not sure that would work anyway as weeds can grow above over time.
1*You are correct it wouldn't do any good.
What causes weed /grass growth is the dirt and dust that settles in the spaces between the gravel .
Much of my driveway has grown a cover crop of short green grass that never needs mowed.
The perfect solution .
Now if I could just get the rest of the driveway to do the same.

Spread some lime and bring the PH way up.

Spread lots Nitrogen fertilizer and watch the weeds die.

Turn it into hayland, do nothing and watch everything die.:(

Only got about 300 feet of driveway , but Eraser is cheaper than Round up and works for me.

If you are going to use Roundup make sure it is the type that is extended control. This will keep from doing the spray several time during the growing seasons.
I use Ortho Ground Clear. It kills weeds and grass for up to a year.

It's also available as granular, xylene is from the petroleum distillates used to make Pramitol 25E. anything used improperly is bad for the environment. Anything mixed in the wrong proportions is bad for the environment.

Eating eggs is bad for you, no wait eggs are good. Milk builds strong bones, no milk is nondigestible except for infants. wholesale chicken is bad, freerange is good. oh, what do you mean freerange isn't a day spa for the chickens.
