I made a similar post on the general forum when I was comparing tractors, but now that I've found MY tractor, I thought I'd see what you hard-core Mahindra guys think. I'm looking at a 2810 w/FEL, brush hog, box blade, and disk. The dealer said he'd sell the tractor and FEL at his cost. The total offer is $15,400, including tax. This post is being made for two reasons: 1) is this really a good deal, and more importantly, 2) can I trust the word of my dealer? I'm a newbie in the tractor world, so I need to be able to trust what this guy says. Any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I'm working a 6 acre piece of land, mostly open, mostly brush hogging; also, I've got 10 acres that are heavily wooded and I'll be clearing some of that for a future homesite.

Now I don't know anything about current Mahindra prices, so I can't help you, but why would he sell it at his cost? He couldn't stay in business long if he does that very often.

In 1995, when I was looking for a Kubota B7100, I had one dealer tell me he'd sell it to me at his cost; only trouble was that 3 other dealers offered me lower prices without saying a thing about not making a profit. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

That's a good question. He told me that he had a couple more 2810's coming in and needed to sell this particular tractor. He didn't offer me "his cost" on any other tractors. Maybe there's something I'm missing?

I'm certainly not saying it's not possible that he's selling it at his cost. There are times when dealers in most any product may sell at or below cost to get something out of inventory, but I do tend to be a little cautious or suspicious, and like to know why. If it's floorplanned and been there to long, he may be having to pay interest on it, and of course there may be some other reasons as well.

Sounds like a fair price to me, but cost? who knows.
I was quoted 15,500 for the same tractor this september with FEL but no attachments. Prices tend to be higher in New England. I ended up with a 2810 HST and I'm very pleased with it. I think I'll be trying out my snowblower this afternoon!

When I was tractor shopping a few months ago, a dealer from another color offered be an extremely good price on a tractor, unfortunately it was smaller than I wanted. The next larger size was many thousand $ more. When I asked why such a steep jump he explained the smaller had been on his lot too long and he would rather discount it to "cost" than to start paying interest on it.

I'll take jobs periodically at "cost" if necessary to keep everyone working, however to me cost also includes a percentage for overhead and everything that goes with it, and I'm much happier seeing employees working on a job for zero profit than to pay him to dust off the light fixtures out of my pocket.

Anyway back on subject...that sure sounds like a good package price to me. If you don't know the dealer, ask around about his reputation. Most folks will gladly share their thoughts, good or bad.

Good Luck!!! Send Pictures!!!!

Yes, I will wear out my digital camera taking pictures of this bad boy! Here's a question: it's been sitting outside for several months, uncovered. That can't be good for it, but how bad is it? Oh, by the way, that price included a toothbar for the FEL.

I imagine they all sit outside for a while, at the manufacturers, docks, distributors, dealers, etc. They're designed for outdoor exposure. Your visual inspection of the paint, trim etc. is the best indicator. A couple of months outdoors hasn't affected it mechanically.

One more thing to check, my dealer took the factory seat off my 2810HST and replaced it with a new slightly different one before it ever left the yard, saying a lot of sun exposure would cause the vinyl on the original to crack and he didn't want that kind of image projected for his product.

The price you got on the 2810w/fel. pkg. is not a bad price i would sell it for about 300.00 less. The tractor i have is only 2-weeks old and the pkg. includes 5-ft-rotary cutter,5-ft-box blade,16-18 disc harrows. We are located in Cumming, Ga.if you are interested please let me know. You will be very pleased with a mahindra they are good tractors. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif OutbackTrac67@aol.com

Thanks, Outback, but I have to deal locally. I am a real novice when it comes to tractors. I only sat on one for the first time last week. So I really will need my dealer to spend some time with me showing me how stuff works. And, I want a local guy to take the tractor to for service work, since I'm "mechanically impaired."
