I've been looking at a NH TC40D (even though I own a smaller Green I didn't think I could afford a 4710). I was looking at a TC40D instead of a TC45D since that's what the dealer has on the lot. Anyway, I was quoted a price on the TC40D with super steer, 17LA FEL, R4s, 2 rear remotes, and a 6' rotary cutter of about $24,300. I then decided to satisfy my curiosity about the JD and priced a 4710 at a dealer about a half hour away. He has a 4710 e-hydro, 460 FEL, R4s, 2 rear remotes, block heater, and a 6' rotary cutter for $23,800! To say the least I was surprised. I really like the 4710's hydro and loader better, and it is 8 HP stronger. I do like the TC40D's super steer but not enough to justify that price difference. What do you think?

This is a real good deal. I paid more for my 4710 with the same equipment and options. What kind of rotary cutter is it? What is the dealer like? Is it reputable?

Muskyhunter, for what it's worth, in the Deere promotional video, the Deere's still had a tighter turning radius than that NH with SuperSteer. While this was a Deere video, they would have been crazy to lie about any of their advantages over the competition. They would have lost credibility.

Plus, at that price, like doc said, buy it.

I tried out 4410 and TC 35D w/SS and
the 35D turned ALOT sharper than the 4410.

Off the websites for NH and Deere, here's the specs on turning radius:

Deere 4710 w/brakes: 7.9ft.
Deere 4710 w/o brakes: 9.2ft.
Deere 4410 w/brakes: 7.5ft.
Deere 4410 w/o brakes: 8.2ft.

NH TC40DSS w/brakes: 8.83ft.
NH TC40DSS w/o brakes: Not available
NH TC35DSS w/brakes: 8.83ft.
NH TC35DSS w/o brakes: Not available

Can't find the info on NH w/o brakes, but sure looks to me like Deere has a tighter turning radius. Maybe the SuperSteer is sold to make people think they are turning sharper, I mean the competition couldn't possible turn more sharply than a $2000 NH option, could it? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I tried to compare these w/ Kubota and it seemed to
me that some of the spec's are ?????????
NH book lists 35-45D as:
turning radius w/ brakes at 110"
SS turning radius w/ brakes at 106"
turning diameter w/ brakes at 127"
SS turning diameter w/ brakes at 83"
Lets see 2 times radius is diameter ??
I can only report what I found when demo'ed them
both for 7-10 days.
The wheel base is 8.5" longer on SS tractors.
Only $1000.00 for SS and get Sensitrak.
The SS turns like a tricyle front end and doesn't tear up
grass or what ever your on.

The JD 4410 R-4 w/ 72" MMM quoted at $22,000.00
NH TC35D W/SS R-4, 1 remote, 200# front wt., 84" MMM $20500.00
and this dealer gave me $3300.00 MORE for my Kubota on trade.
This was Big reason for going Blue.
