It's Home!
I've put together a small pictorial of the journey of my TC55DA. It's a lot of pictures but I thought I'd share them with you all.
Saturday dawned bright and clear. I met my buddy at his place and got the White/Volvo dump ready to go. Believe it or not this truck started out as a road truck and after 400,000 miles was converted to a dump.
Here we are making our way through the country back roads headed for the highway.
Hooked up with US-131 at Grand Rapids, MI. Weather is great and the traffic is light. We've traveled about 50 miles so far
After about 70 more miles, we reach our destination. We are right outside the Manistee State Forest, where the caretaker of the deer camp lives. He is driving the TC55 down the main road from his place and just beyond that, the road ends and turns to a 2 track into the forest.
My friend Bud is on the trailer guiding Dennis the caretaker in loading the 8' Western snow plow.
We chained the dirt bucket longways in the rock bucket so we could load it from the side of the trailer.
Here's Dennis running the TC55 up on the trailer, pushing the dirt bucket and snow plow together trying to give us enough room to get the tractor all the way on the trailer. With the Woods mower on the back, we barely had enough room to lock the ramps up.
Chained up and heading home, I secretly snapped a picture of Bud as he pilots us toward home.
120 miles later, we back into my hay field by the back pasture gate. That's my black lab Charlie running around like a knucklehead.
Bud and I are busily unchaining the TC55.
Here is a pic of yours truly. I would be smiling if I didn't have my mouth open! Thanks to my wife for taking such a flattering picture.
Heads up! It's coming off! My black lab Charlie seems to be the only one with any sense - he's headed for the hills as I back the TC55 off the trailer.
It's on the ground and in one piece! Now I just have to drop off the dirt bucket and unload the snowplow and we're done!
She's in my shop now while I go over everything and try to familiarize myself with the controls and lube points. The owner has the manual and is in Florida. He is mailing it to me along with the other key so I will have to figure things out for myself until the manual gets here.
I'm really excited about this rig, just like a kid at Christmas! Thanks for putting up with such a long post!
Mike
