Jerry, your 2011 met 2011 EPA standards for your HP as you have said. However, that would not have been Tier IV at the time. I believe yours is Tier III, which means it probably has an EGR system and a carefully calibrated FIP with a KSB system. I believe all 5035 on dealer's lot right now are Tier III still until stocks are sold out. MUSA brought in a bunch of tractors, like all manufacturers, ahead of the Tier IV norms and they are less money than the upcoming Tier IV and simpler. I think by the end of this year most Tier III will be gone in most models. Our 8560s are now called mPower 85 and I believe they are all Tier IV now. Other models to follow as stocks deplete.

I was wondering if anyone knows for sure that the tier IV is going to be implemented for 2014? A lot of speculation but has Mahindra made any official statements? I have decided to get the 5035 and just trying to get the financial stuff together to do it, so I am playing a time game here.

Mahindra has told us, as soon as the current US Tier III stock is gone, the Tier IV's will start filling the orders.

So, question. What is the main difference between the 5010 and the 5035? They both use the same loader and backhoe. Same hp numbers. But the weight is noticeably different between both tractors. And the length and width are different. What major item(s) am I missing? Thanks, B.

The 5035 is built by Mahindra, and the 5010 is built by TYM for Mahindra. If you see them side by side in person, or if you look at the jpg's on the Mahindra site.. especially the back 3pt view.. you will see where the weight difference comes from. The 10 series is built like a lot of colors of tractors which tend to push hp over girth, whilst the 35 series is built more for the girth...junk in the trunk...booty.... Kind of like most are made like compact utility while the other is built more like just plain utility class.... :)

JerryK had a good answer. I'll add to it. The loaders are not at all the same. The backhoe is the same basic unit, but the sub-frame is entirely different. Also, the 5010 open station is a normal manual transmission, the 5035 comes in a shuttle, power-shuttle or an HST. That being said, we sell a lot of 5010s as that is a lot of tractor for the money.

The 5035 also has a 11gpm hyd pump while the 5010 has a 9.5 for implements. I think the power steering section of the pumps are about the same. The 5010 is a great tractor, it is just that the 5035 is built like a tank.... and I, am REAL biased... since I own one... :)

Okay thanks for the responses guys. So for backhoe, posthole digging using the backhoe stinger, an 8' flail mower, and the occasional "other work" which would be the better tractor? The soil in my parts of the state is either rocky or hard as rock hardpan. No easy digging valley bottom dirt around these parts. B

If you are ever going to trailer it, the 5010 is lighter. You also can get a cab on the 5010... The 35 series is more expensive.... The 35 series has bigger tires, roomier op area, heftier 3pt/stabilizers, etc... Other than that, can't say much more cuz of my biased view of life.... :) You should spend some time kicking tires/demo'n both... I would recommend at least a PST [ reverser ] or a HST trans, though....

What transmission you prefer may dictate if a 5010 will work for you. The 5035 is the better tractor, but is it thousands $$ better for you?

As far as digging in rock or hardpan, it makes any backhoe look wimpy. Even the big commercial $125k rigs struggle with hardpan and rock. So make sure your expectations are not too grand as far as digging.

And we do not call our valley bottom "dirt", we call it "soil". :D Dirt sounds cheap.

Also, not trying to be to biased.... the 35 series has extendable bottom links on the 3pt... plus GREAT anti-sway bars... Only be ache I have about them is they do not have Cat2 bottom links... But, Mahindra may be sending me those in lieu of my Mahindra Owners Club hat.... which I would prefer the Cat2 links... if anyone is listening... :)
