Tractor
Few John Deere's and one Ford 3600 diesel.
5205 with loader it has 1000 hours .It has 16.9-28 rear R1 tires and 905-24 R1 on the front, 1 rear remote and dual mid remotes and block heater it is a 2003 model. tractor is from Canada and they're asking $21000.00(with delivery). tractor seems to be in good shape from pitures. any particular questions I should ask this dealer? does this seem like a pretty decent price?

That seems to be a bit on the high side... with a 1,000 hrs. What model loader? Did they plunk a new bucket on the old loader? That's typically something that happens when the tractor/loader has been used hard. With that many hours, the rubber should be showin' some real wear. That'll cost ya' a nearly a grand off the top.

Everything dry? No leaking cylinders? How about seals? Got many bumbs or bruises... I check the front grill on loader/tractors for hard use. If they were real cowboys, the grill or top of the hood will sometimes show that.

10-15 minutes on the JD configurator for the MSRP and then compare that to the asking price from the dealer.

Check for brake wear and clutch wear and look to see if the loader is still square --- sides lift at the same time and the bucket sits level on the ground, etc.

Good hunting--

I have a new 5105 with 522 FEL. Very happy with it. About five weeks ago I paid roughly $26,000 for 5105 (MFWD and 16.9x28 R1's) and 522 FEL. I think mine was a leftover 2006 model; I don't think it was any older, and I don't know of any changes to the design since around 2003/2004 (When hp went up slightly). I imagine that the 5205 costs around $2000 more new (easy to check on Deere website). If you like the model and can swing it, why not buy new? The 5x05 series is both basic and heavy duty - not as cheap as a 5103, not as fancy as a 5225 - and I suspect most people buying them are using them pretty hard (I may be an exception).

On the plus side, the tractor is very well made and I'm not aware of any typical wear or failure items. Before buying I emailed with Scott_VT's neighbor who has a 7 year old 5105 (MFWD and 521 FEL) and he reported no problems, no complaints and no repairs in 1000 hours of use.
