A local pawn shop has a 1998 B21 w/444 hrs. It's equiped w/TL421 loader, BT751 backhoe and includes a light duty 16' tandem axle trailer w/ramps.
Visual inspection shows a little normal wear and tear with no leaks or other red flags.

Now how much would you think that the shop is asking for this Kubota? I'll not reveal what I was quoted just yet. I'd like to see what you think.

Ron,

Guesstimate $18,500. Top side would be $20K as a trailer like that with brakes is about $2500 new and the B21TLB new $25K

I like Carl’s guess of 18,500 for tractor and trailer. Low hour used ones are hard to come by in this area. I have the same tractor, same year and paid $19,000 in late 99. It took a year to find a used one. If you are considering this machine make sure to drive it and test the 4wd. I have seen 2 that the front drive was broke from always being used on pavement and never being taken out of 4wd. It is a tough little TLB.

Ok, the trailer is one of those black light duty units that are available on every street corner around here. The wheels are white spoke w/car tires and it does not have brakes. Cost new ~$900.

I was quoted $24,000 but they would take $19,000 for it. The local Kubota dealer says that this is unit is still available new (I didn't know that) at a cost of ~$23,000. I thought that the BX22 replaced the B21.

As for me, the B21 is too small for my upcoming needs, I would rather spend the money on a Case 580 type machine. Even the added maintenance isn't a problem for the larger unit, been there, done that before.

Thanks,

Ron, I believe the BX22 and the B21 are not comparable. The B21 is the lowend contractor's machine with a commercial grade frame, pumps and drive train.

The BX is cute, noticibly smaller, and not in the same league IMO.

Ron,

DAP is correct, the BX22 has a lift cap of 400lbs while the B21 is 926, overall weight is higher, plus BH/loader capacity is 50-100lbs of the L3010 series similar setup.

So the BX22 is the little brother to the B21TLB while the L35 and L48 are the linebackers of the family.

You would not go wrong with this unit for $19K but if you want a 580 series and have the space to manuever it's the way to go.
