Hi,

I'm in the market for a new tractor on my 45 acre farm. I will mostly be using the tractor for haying, mowing and some loader work. We have some steep hills, a creek and other wet areas so 4wd is a requirement.

At first I believed a tractor around 50 hp (TN65) was enough, but after reading some of the stories here I've decided to go bigger. (to the tune of $3000 extra)

That puts me in a TN75 with 4wd, 32LA quick attach loader, 3rd remote, mechanical shuttle , all for $30,050

I believe this is a good price. I also got an email quote for 31,200.

How does this compare?

I have also considered a JD 5410 or 5510, but my local dealer is too expensive. With all the necessary options I believe a 5410 would be in the 33,000 range.

I'm not the biggest Kubota fan, but priced the M6800 at about the same as the TN75

Sounds a little steep....In April I bought a TN65, front assist, 8x8 mechanical shuttle, 3rd remote, Alo 710 Quicke Loader (in my opinion and the opinoin of the mechanics at the dealer, it is a better loader than the 32LA) Out the door for $24,585. I went to three dealers, one wanted $25000 just for the tractor without the 3rd remote and no loader, the other was about $27000 for what I wanted. There was a $1000 NH rebate at the time. My family has bought three (3) AG tractors from this dealer in the past 3 yrs and they blow the other locals away. Nice family operation. Don't know where you are located but here is their website:

Not sure you'll need the 10 extra HP for most of what you describe, We have a 55 acre farm and between the 4630 and TN65 can handle everything. The 4630 is a little better with 3x16 semi mounted plow mostly due to the extra weight, about 1500 lbs heavier. If we put front weights on the TN65 it would be fine. Because we already had the 4630, I did not feel that we needed the extra power. About the only thing I would change about my tractor are the tires, I have the 9.5x24 16.9x28 Ag combination and wish I had gone for the 11.2x24 16.9x30 combo. Mostly for the increased footprint on the front tires when using the loader.

Th TN's are a great design and we've had good luck with ours so far. Excellent fuel economy and comfortable to run. The hydraulics are everything you will ever need. I wish that they put a flow control on the remotes like the some of the other series have. We have broke a couple of cylinder mounts before we stopped using the detent feature (our tractors are newer but our equipment is older which is the real problem). Good luck with your search.

Thomas,

Check out the TN, TNS and TND series of tractors from New Holland. They have some info on their web site, but you will need to go to the dealer to get more information. They range in pto hp from 42 to 62. The TN75 is the largest in the series with 62 pto hp. The TN tractors compete with the JD Ten series and the Kubota M series.

JimT,

My dealer was at 27,000 for the same setup on a TN65. I'm about 250 miles from your dealer so it may be an option. Thanks for the great info.

Kubota M6800SD in 4WD with all sync transmission and dash mounted sync shuttle with loader, quick attach 6 ft bucket is about $27,000. That gives you the hydraulics for the loader and one additional set of external hydraulic valves and control lever. Second set of external valves with control lever was about $750.

That is ok, I am not a big fan of NH tractors, either. Be sure to check very carefully that you are getting the exact options, tires, etc, that you need. The Kubota comes with all things standard including the adjustable 3 point links, but I had a hard time determining and then pricing the NH options to get the configuration I wanted.

Wen,

I was able to get a second quote for the M6800 right at 27,000 from an out of state dealer. I would prefer to bring my business to my local dealer (just two miles away), but certainly won't pay $3,000 extra.

The Kubota is nice in that it includes everything but the loader in the standard package. The 3 year warranty is nice too.

I'm at the point where I am going to try and get the various models on my property for an evaluation. The New Holland dealer offered to let me try one out on my property. I can probably rent the others too. I used a small Kubota in the past that could hardly pull its own weight up a hill so I won't buy a Kubota without trying it on my hills first. I think that Kubota was a B2150. It was less then solid after 600 hours.

I also got an out of state quote on the JD 5410. With all the options to get it comparable to the M6800 or the TN75 it came in at $30,500. Much less then my local dealer.

The NH quick attack loader will also accept skid steer loader attachments. Not sure about the others.

I also like the fact that the TN75 has a stronger 3pt lift rating and higher hydraulic pump capacity.

We'll see.

Thanks for your comments!
