Price of petrol in your area?

D@#$ Oil Companies. Saying they need to increase prices because its supposedly getting scarce so their just covering their costs. Strange that their making record PROFITS unheard of in the History of the petroleum refining industry. Were talking BILLIONS (GEE I thought they were just trying to cover their costs of recovering the OIL & processing costs & trying to make a fair profit) HA...It's all a huge scam my friends....and we are the scape GOATS. Like being a GOATIE....well that's what we are. Of course our reliable Media folks will make sure were not getting scammed. Sorry but this is obviously a sore subject with me. Do you think (hope) prices will come down again....well your in for a rude awakening. Just like GATORBOY foretold....prices will be going up (over the long run). So it's up to us to ask our honest politicians why these OIL Companies need to charge these type of prices ? OK I have said enough....I could probably continue into infinitum. Bottom line.....were the stooges because we believe everything (most of us) the media tell us. One day when things get bad enough there will be a reckoning.

Z71 - Sounds like a good buy for someone. I have a Chev Silverado 2500HD and a friend who has a GMC 2500HD with the Duramax and Allison Transmission. He pulls a 5th wheeler all around the country. Both satisfied with them - both good vehicles.

Looks like your gas is a nickle cheaper, but your diesel is a dime more - go figure.

Price here is:

There are a lot of folks out there that are not in your position, and the high price of fuel will hurt both in gasoline, heating oil and natural gas. MY home and my vehicles are also paid.BUT i still don't like the high energy prices as i feel we are being ripped off. you won't see alternative fuels UNTIL they have squeezed every $$ out of the public and oil is gone, hey u can't leave wothless oil in the ground, if someone came up with a cheaper fuel. call me jaded!!!

The price of 87 octane in southern Ontario is 87 cents a litre or $3.50 Canadian for a US gallon.
Diesel is 80 cents a litre or $3.20 for a US gallon.

I drive 87 miles one way to work so I see quite a range in fuel prices.

87 Octane gas $2.03 - $2.19
Diesel $2.29 - $2.49

gas $1.99-2.19 regular unleaded

diesel $2.69-2.79

I sure like my in-line-diesels but a little 60 mpg car might be nice.

Paid 2.19 for regular highway diesel this morning, gas is 1.99 to 2.19 and $1.99 /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif for home heating oil.

This kind of thinking always mystifies me. The oil companies big enough to refine and market are all public companies, owned by a bunch of real people. The last time I looked (granted, a long time ago), one of the larger stockholders of ExxonMobil was a large state public school system teacher's pension fund. Most every kind of mutual fund owns shares of big integrated oil companies right now, it's a great investment. Every publicly-traded company is in business to make profit for it's shareholders - don't you want the stocks you own (or your pension, 401k, etc. owns) to make a good return on your investment?

If you really think you are being ripped off, don't buy their products. If you are mad because they are making a bunch of money, then buy their stock and you will too. If you disagree with the way these companies are run or their business practices, then vote your shares of stock at the next annual meeting - but don't be surprised if the retired school teachers who like their profits disagree with you.

After my investment advisor had been following my Exxon stock for the last 7 years, he's been buying it for himself and recommending it to his other clients.

It's not the oil companies who are responsible for the high prices. I did some calcs. The difference between 18 mpg vehicles and 27 mpg (CAFE for cars) is a HUGH amount. It keeps about a half dozen of the largest refineries in the US running.

If you drive anything that gets less than 27 mpg, YOU'RE partly responsible for the higher gas prices. I always called SUVs, in particular, HYNs for Hate Your Neighbor vehicles. You want to get up above them to look down your nose at them. You want to smash **** out of them (50-100% more weight) if you hit them. You want to raise the price of gas so your neighbors pay more. Big pickups and vans aren't excluded.

Of course, the big thing that's driving the prices up is escalating demand in China and India. These are HUGE markets if only a few more of the population get cars every year.
