I’d like to use it in my wooded plots.
In food plot work, a Disk Harrow no wider than the tread width of my rear R4/industril tires fits between trees. A wider Disk hangs up on trees, after the tractor is through. Backing up a wide TPH Disk in the woods, especially on a slope, is difficult and time consuming.
Backing up a pull-type Disk might be impossible in the same situation.
Well I was just trying to get really heavy. My main focus is maintaining a stand of switchgrass which will be about 4 acres. I also want to disc my food plots combing (?) 1.5 acres. This is a 10 acre field nice and flat.
Also discing for native forbs 50% disturbance. Maybe a couple acres.
You will have to decide if a wide Disc to decrease time spent processing your fields, or a rear tire tread-width TPH Disk for processing land between trees is your priority.
1) For your food plots, consider a TPH Disc Harrow 72" wide, with 9" pan spacing, with pans 20" in diameter. I am sure you can pull this. You might be able to pull a TPH Disc Harrow 72" wide with 9" pan spacing, with pans
22" in diaper, but I am not sure. Note: you need to pull a Disc Harrow at the speed of a brisk walk to throw dirt.
9" pan spacing on the front gangs, 7" spacing on the rear gangs is also good.
2) For your fields consider a TPH Disc Harrow 84" wide, with 7" pan spacing, with pans 22" in diameter. The additional pans will yield more float, allowing the extra 12" of width and greater 2" of pan diameter.
9" pan spacing on the front gangs, 7" spacing on the rear gangs is also good.
I am trying to go really heavy.
You must pay for every pound.
