Just curious as to what a face cord of wood is going in your area.... In Western NY it seems to be around 75 to 85 dollars for a face cord of mixed hardwood delievered. As you get into the urban areas it can escalate to $100.00 or more..

I use what falls from my trees and has been taken down the past few years, but around here $75-$85 is about right for mixed hardwood.

I stopped taking orders for firewood three months ago, and I was getting $175 for a full cord of dry. Today, the market is getting $200 a cord. That is IF you can find someone with seasoned wood.

I know the WNY deal, as I left there in April!
Now down here in Tennessee, in my area, it goes for about $40-50 for a rick (face cord up north) We cut up and split some of the oaks I dropped here last year and have about a 2+ yr supply (about 6 full cords) in the stack. With my 11 acres of trees, I won't be buying any for a very long time.

Wow! Such bargains. Here in SE NH it is 280 to 300 bucks for a full cord. Like Rozette mentioned I doubt if it is properly seasoned.

Looks like there are 15 ads in the Dallas Morning News for firewood from $149 to $285 a cord, depending on quality, whether you pick it up or they deliver it, and if they deliver it, where they have to go to do it.

It has been $30 a rick around here for several years. I have not seen anyone advertising it yet this year, But I don't think it will go up much in price.

Spring before last, we had several tornado's in this immediate area. Lots of downed trees. The wood cutters are still sawing away. Seasoned, split, and delivered, around $45 to $50 a rick. Best deal I've seen is a local that charges $100 for all he can load in the bed of his 3/4 ton pick-up. (delivered and stacked) He hauls about 2-1/4 rick on the load.

With time in short supply, it's cheaper for me to buy from this guy, and have it delivered to the house than it is to cut it myself right now.

It is a real shame that all the oaks that were felled by Katrina could not be saved for use, either as lumber or as firewood. I've been saving the biggest oak trunks - - don't know why, as I don't have a splitter, and we use only a small amount of firewood compared to people further north. It just hurts to drag it out to the road for FEMA contractors to pick up & take to a dump.

If anyone is close enough to justify a run this direction, I'm sure I can load up a pickup or a trailer or two for you.
