A new log splitter is getting cheaper by the day... I put up 4 cords to burn this winter.

I just checked the paper this morning. $40 per face cord, 16" lengths. It did get up to $45 a month or so ago, but now it's back down. Except for campfire wood at my campground, I haven't sold any since summer, but when I did I got $45/cord and always sold all I had. Many of my customers complained about the quality/quantity of the wood they had purchased from others and were willing to pay me a little more.

I was getting a rig with 20 face chord dropping off wood to my house for $450 a load. Now mind you this is in log form and I have to do everything but you get it cheaply if you have the time and muscle. This ain't for everyone.

JohnK and others . I buy my firewood from one of a few local saw mills . I get their culls . It's about $450-500 for a tri-axle truck load .
Obviously it's not cut to length. But for 6-8 cords,I can live with that. In this area ,it's a mix of Cherry and, Maple , with a bit of Oak and, Ash . A cord of wood around here goes for 150 and up . So I'll do the work of cutting and splitting it . John

I just picked up a 4x4x8 ft box of hardwood from a lumber yard thast makes pallets. All clean wood no nails etc. Can't beat the price of $20.00 for a full cord. Good enough for my cabin...
