I picked up a NH 1920 (1998 - 4x4-FEL-757C BH) with 192 Hours and pretty clean condition for $17K. I suspect I could have had the tractor for roughly $12K making the backhoe worth the additional $5K.
At a local dealer, I saw a 1987 1710, 4x4, FEL, Top 'n Tilt and a backhoe (900 hours) and he was firm on $15.5K so I figure I got a decent rig for a decent price.
I've dug over 600 Ft'' of trench over the last couple weeks (12" bucket) and except for the very big rock (Boulder actually), it worked great. I was pleased with the way it worked. Only problems I had were the Nut/Bolt's on one of the lever's busted due to the stress and the lower frame mount bolt's busted as well. Have replaced those and no more problems. One Case guy told me I should drill through the frame mounts and through bolt with stainless for added strength. Stainless apparantly has the strength of a grade 8 bolt with the flex of a grade 5 bolt. NH recommends Grade 5, 16mm.
Good Luck. Todd in Placerville, CA.
