my dealer has a 2002 MX5 that is new/old stock. it doesnt have front or rear chain guards. i would only add one to the front. he is asking $1300ish. is this a good buy?
That is what I paid about a year ago for one that had been hooked up a couple of times before the owner decided it was too big for his tractor and he traded down to an LX-4.
Get him to throw in the front chain guard, and you'll have a good deal.

after my lx6 developed some problems, I went shopping again and noticed the "bush hog" brand and an off brand they make is much stronger, and is made with box steel frame. I won't buy a JD brand cutter again. Sorry for the negative attitude about this, just telling it like it is.
NoMo is right on the slip clutch being optional on the LX series. It's standard on the MX's.... The MX's are truly the heavy-duty variety of these cutters and I can't see buying anything but the MX for brush cutting work.
