2000 John Deere 430 Hydro. 32 HP
Over in Tampa Florida, I was quoted, roughly, $20,000.00 for a TC 45 with loader, does this sound right?
Surely it couldn't be hydro drive 4x4 could it?
This fella, Over the phone, said he was gonna bring one by my house next week, about 40 miles one way. Now that sounds like service!! I even told him, thats alright, I'll come down and look, and he said nah!! I live by you so its no big deal for me to throw one on a trailer and bring it over!!
Right now, I have a John Deere 4300, and I have been having some problems, mostly with my local dealer. But I really need a bigger, stronger machine. Anyone out there able to give me a comparison between the 4300 JD and the NH TC45? I need durability as well as loader lift capacity. Right now, my 4300 cant get a bucket of damp dirt to the top of my dump truck. It has the 430 loader on it with 72"bucket.
Also, is the axle housings and rear trans housing cast aluminum on the New Hollands? Apreciate all the info I can get on the NH, thanks,,, /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Gott

I can't say for sure, but I think the TC45 is a manual transmission, available in either 2WD or 4WD, while the TC45D is hydrostatic. You might want to call the dealer back and be sure just which one he intends to bring for you to try.

Gott, the data Bird gave you is exactly right. The TC45 is a gear tractor and lacks many features of the TC45D deluxe model tractor with hydrostatic transmission. The gear TC45 is a great tractor, but the $20,000 price is a little high. I think even in Florida you should be able to get the price down to around $19,500 or even less. The hydrostatic tractor is normally $2,500 to $3,000 more than the gear-driven tractor.

I'd also be a little cautious of a guy who wants to bring a tractor by without your being able to see all the tractors he has at the dealership and make comparisons. My guess is that he will try to convince you that you don't need the hydro tractor and try to leave the gear drive tractor with you. If you have doubts, then you'd probably be wise to have extreme caution when working with this salesman.

Of course, if what he has is a new or less than 50hr hydrostatic tractor, you should be very, very interested. I do think he should have explained the difference in the tractor models to you. If you are loading your dump truck, the hydrostatic will be your choice.

Good luck with your purchase. Are you trading-in the JD? That could also effect the final price of the NH. Just be cautious and try to get exactly what you need. There are lots of folks here who will more than happy to help and offer good advice. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes, I was considering trading the deere in, but it will depend on the loss of depreciation. My JD dealer once offered $13,000 trade and I belive I owe about $8,500.00 less by now. I feel I could sell the deere outright with loader and BB and maybe get $15,000.00 maybe a lil more. It only has 396 hrs on it, and has always been maintained. I dont usually wait for the 100 hr service interval. many times I have serviced it every 50 hrs. It does need both side panels replaced, their intact, but have sustained some damage due to a mishap. The mishap also broke the hood, of which I have already replaced. This was caused by a palmetto stump which sprung up, wedged under the right side plastic, pushed it up and actually broke the hood and the left side panel, ouch!! I was trying to pull a truck out of the mud when it happened.

The NH dealer was super friendly, and he lives near me. maybe its his excuse to bring one home for somethin he wants to do?? I dont think he plans on leaving it here, but if he does I'll be glad to put it through the paces. I'll let er'one know later in the week what happens. I definetely need a bigger machine, wish I would have realized this when I made my forst purchase. Thanks,,,,,,,,,,,Ed,,,,,gott

Hey Jimman, are you familiar with these machines? I'm wondering if the lift capacity is as good as one might expect?
I know my JD4300 actually picks up more than the specs rate it at, but its still not enough. I need to be able to pick up aprox. 2,300 lbs, "just a few feet off the ground" "pallets of Thin Brick pavers" with pallet forks. I am wondering if the TC40 D or TC 45D are capable of this weight? My lil 4300 can pick up about 3/4 of a pallet, but its definetly got its tongue hangin out, I figure about 15-1800 lbs. I figure a 40-45 HP machine would be able to pick up 2,300 or do I need to look at bigger yet? thanks gott

Gott, you "gott-a" help me with a little more info here. Do you mean loader lift or 3PH lift? I'm sure the 3PH can lift more on my tractor than the loader. I know that because I've had to turn around to lift a container my neighbor uses as a workshop, and I couldn't lift it with the loader. The heaviest thing I've lifted with the loader is a pallet with about 25 bags of Masonry mix on it. I was using my loader forks, so the load was fully 24" in front of my loader arm pins where the maximum lift is rated. Anyhow, I was able to curl the load enough that I just skimmed the ground while moving the load 100' to my barn. I think if I had dedicated forks instead of the loader chain-on type, I would have been able to lift that load much higher.

This is not scientific research, /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif but it's the nearest anecdotal evidence I have. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Yes, I need to lift it with the loader, I take it, those were 80lbs bags of cement? and which machine do you have? And if you dont mind, hehehe, how many hrs, and any problems so far??

Thats a pretty hefty load, I was also moving pallets using a strap and my loader bucket, and as you said, lift and curl, lol. But man it feels good when you can feel that power!!!

Are you suffering from alzheimers, Gott? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif You PM'd me just last weekend and I answered those same questions. After telling you that I bought my tractor in February 2001, you asked me in another PM how long I had had it. What's up? Are you taking notes? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Okay, here we go again...
Problems: Joystick, hydro pedal, battery corrosion...all fixed by dealer one time, but Joystick problem came back...(see thread, "No Joy Joystick."

Model: TC45D

Hours: 425

Chain-on forks: see attachment

Weight of pallet of Mortar: 1-ton (more or less)

Really, I don't mind helping you, but when you ask me the same questions over and over I wonder if you are really focused? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif ...and I also am having a little fun giving you a hard time about it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
