It's always been one of my "life decisons" to never buy a new model of anything. However, your observation is somewhat true about it not being "brand new". But, the machine did experience a substantial redesign. The entire frame structure is different! The suspension is different. The engine location is different.
I don't know how the new machine will do but Bobcat does a decent job of updating as they find weaknesses. No machine out there is 100% perfect so I can't tell you that the D series is the ultimate machine. I do know that once the data from the previous models was really analyzed, the fixes are incorporated into the D machine. Cooling, the ride, attachment performance, etc were all addressed while designing the D machine. I'm looking forward to getting our first one and driving it. I'll post a report once that happens.
If you are running a C and want to move to the next level, the D should make that a good decision for you. If you are content with the C, keep it and use it. It's a good machine itself and should provide you with years of use.
