Just picked up some Rotella (dino) 15w-40 at Wal-mart, $7.68 a Gallon. After Wal-mart went to Tractor Supply (guy store) for some stocking stuffers and the price for Rotella was $7.15 a Gallon. I will not ever assume (****-U-ME) that Wal-mart has the cheapest prices!!!!!!!

If you had known it before you went to Wal-Mart, you could have told the cashier and they would have let you had it for the TSC price. I know that you didn't know, but most people don't ever use their comp. pricing at Wal-Mart.

I think a lot of us make that assumption about Wal-Mart (they do have a heckuva marketing engine). There is a local, family owned feedstore in my town and a new 24hr Super Wal-Mart. Believe it or not, the mom/pop (actually 2 brothers and a sister) store have Wal-Mart beat on a lot of stuff. Amdro and Round-up for example. And I get the added benefit of being able to ask questions of someone who not only knows the answers (or can find out) but who genuinely WANTS to help me. And that is a service I usually expect to (and will) pay extra to get.

Our local news did a spot on Wal-mart. They compared prices with other stores and found that only 45% of the stuff they compared did walmart actually have the lowest price in town. Walmart gets you with the advertising. People just assume they are the lowest and don't bother to shop around. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

not to sound rude, but your upset cause your oil cost an extra 43 cents a gallon? i dont think i would even give it a second thought unless i had purchased or planned to purchase many many gallons of oil. if ya drove to tsc checked there price, then drove to walmart to check there price, found it was more, then drove back to tsc and bought the oil there you likely woulda burned up more than the price difference in gas alone, and have spent a good bit of your time. im not sayin i dont shop around for a good deal, i ceartainly do, but its generaly on bigger purchases than a gallon of oil. its kinda like the people who drive around looking for gas stations with the cheapest price, they find a place thats 2 cents cheaper but is 15 miles outa the way, is it realy savin ya money!

My wife loves Wally World, I don't. I'd never buy gasoline from a gas station with the name of Murphy!!!

How is it possible that the above little fairy tale was derived from what I said in my original post, NEXT TIME, don't use your imagination to dream up a story that you can ridicule.
And , "not to sound rude" NEXT TIME use a calculator, the difference is 53 "cents", not 43

Buck

P.S. are you related to that guy who was banned, he also thought he was too rich to care about prices

If I recall correctly, Wal-Mart has a certain number of items that they figure people know the price of. These items have prices that are competitive and perhaps lower than other places. Sam's soda comes to mind as being an example of this, at 59 cents a bottle.

As for prices on all the other items -Buyer Beware....
