I am looking at a 1999 790 JD for $15,000.Is this a good price? It has FEL and BH with 365 hours on it and is also 4wd.What should I be looking for because this is my first time buying a tractor.I am aloso looking at a 2001 B7500hst for $16,000.It has 140 hours on it and comes with a FEL and BH.Looking for as much input as possible

I just priced a 2003 790 model today. With 419 FEL (I believe that is correct no for unit replacing the 70 FEL) the out the door price is $13250. That floored me, I expected 14500 to 15000. But JD is being aggressive these days to move new units. Its a buyers market for new and a poor market for the sellers selling used. I can't price the BH for you, but $3000 to 3500 seems very reasonable for a used BH from what I have read on TBN. The 790 JD appears to be a great machine. I have heard only positive comments about it. Maybe that puts things in some perspective for you. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

DON"T BUY IT

I just bought new

JD 790 dual scv no mid pto
419 FEL w/ 61 hd bucket
hood guard
industrial tires
LX5 brushhog w/ slip clutch and laminated tires

I don't think you would be making a good move buying that unit used for $100 more than I paid NEW.

14,900 out the door free delivery with 0 down 3.9% over 60 mos.

...1999 790 JD for $15,000... It has FEL and BH with 365 hours...

Like some of the other guys already telling ya... you can buy a brand new 2003 JD 790, 0 hours, new design loader, Full 2 yr. mfr. warranty for LESS than $15K...

(then you finance this at a low mfr. APR with a brand new backhoe for ~~ $5-6K)

...or get a few thousand $$$ more knocked off to twist your arm to buy the used unit...

I guess you guys know what you are talking about. The problem is I only have $15000 to $16000 to play with.I am starting to lean toward the 2001 B7500 kubota for the money.I know it is a smaller machine but I am hearing good things about it.The kubota only has 140 hours on it.I guess i am going to have to decide soon.THANKS
