I agree about the price. When I was looking I was shocked at how high they go. I ended up buying (From a JD dealer) a Kawasaki Mule 610 4x4. Delivered to my door for $6500 (less than an ATV). I didn't need twin cylinders or liquid cooling, etc. The load/towing capacity was about the same as it's bigger brothers and being just a tad skinner I could drive it between the fender wells of my 2500hd if I wanted to remove the cap.
Air cooling also has another advantage, I have a huge trunk up front.
It'll go through just about anything unless ground clearance becomes an issue and has been a workhorse since I bought it in 2006. I'd recommend one in a heartbeat.
Yes, no auto-dump, fancy smancy, etc., but 4wd, built rugged, lockable rear diff and auto-locking front, etc. Governed to 25mph but that's all I need. I've pulled the small trailer lot's also and it's fine for that. If I won the lottery I'd love to get a two row seat diesel Gator but would I be getting much more that I'd use? Not really. The 610 fit's my needs about as much as it could.
