Buying Advice pricing used kubota bx1860

I went through the same thing a little over a year ago. Used machines were within 2,000 dollars of new, and some had as many as 500 hrs. for that price.

I looked at the alternatives and purchased new. Full warranty, and I'm the only owner. I know it's 'worked', but not abused..........and service correctly(I do my own service).

Chris, I think you are on target. I had that same price in mind. I am in Connecticut also. I have followed the advice of the helpful posts and have received a price from Barlow's $14350 and local dealer $14900 (no tax included) price as equipped. The used machine seller is down to $11800. He hasn't provide serial number or purchase date(he seems to be tired of haggling with me). I would have to pay someone to transport it home for me.

Seems the used machine is a good deal but not a great one. I am leaning toward buying new.

pzack, where are you in CT and where is the BX1860? I had a BX1860 for two years and 137 hours before trading it in on my BX25. Have you seen the tractor in person?

EDIT: OK, did a CL search and looks like its the one in Bethany CT. Not to complicate things for you, but depending on where you're at, I could look at it with you and haul it for you for gas money. I have an F150 and landscape trailer. Not trying to push you towards the used unit, just trying to help out.

I shopped used for over 2 years. Kubota's 0 percent financing not only made up my mind for a new one, but I believe brings down the value of used ones to some extent. I'm very pleased thus far w/my 1860.

Chris, thanks for the offer. I live in eastern Connecticut. Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I ended up buying the tractor you saw on CL (bx1860, 54"MMM, FEL, Front Blade and BB). Was able to get the price down a little more. Turns out the machine is less than 2 years old. I still have 6 months left on the 2 year warranty and 1.5 years left on the power train. I was able to transfer the warranty through the original dealer. I got all the manuals with it. Looks like the loader was never used. The front blade shows a little wear.

After I got it home and my two sons immediately began to pick up and move piles of wood with the loader. I've only been able to mow the lawn with it so far. I feel I've made the right choice for now. This is a much heavier duty machine than my cub 3165.

I been reading the manuals and will be doing the 50hr. maintenance this weekend(machine has 53 hrs. - not sure if maintenance was done or not).
