RainbowBridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Sorry to read about your loss. We had to put down our 5 year old Corgi in May and I'm just getting over it.

Five years is way too young to lose a pet. Having been there, I can relate.

Those of us that care for our animals can always take comfort by sharing on this site. Thanks for all the comments.

My wife and I have been reflecting on our loss. Prince George or Georgie as he was already named when we took him in not only got along with but survived several other dogs including a rottie, a French Beuceron and a Belgium Malinois. We had gotten him through a Min Pin rescue. Ironic part of that was that the group had wanted him back after they found out that the rep had placed him with us even though we had no fence. LOL, we were some 1500 feet off a secondary road and never allowed any of our dogs to roam.

I might add that while we do respect the various specific breed rescue groups requirements, we have since gone to seeking animals on "death row". Ie; those whom have reached the end of their 30 day reprieve when they must be put down to make room for others.

Anyway, George gave us many years of enjoyment. The "demonstrative" min pin breed is one larger than their actual size. Plenty of mouth, somewhat like a cat in their independence, but very loving on their terms. With the breed, you learn to step over a rumpled towel or blanket as likely the dog is curled up under there. Georgie was our second min pin. Very different from the first being a male rather than the female we first knew. Knowing my wife, likely not the last at least for now. Again, thanks to all for understanding and sharing.
