Does anyone have one of those printer/scanner/fax combos? If so, do they work ok?

I have had an HP D135 for the past year and it works well. I am very satisfied with the scanning and faxing ability. The only problem like most inkjet printers is the cost of the cartridges.

I'm glad I purchased it.

Somebody here referenced fatwallet.com last year when I was looking so I went there and searched around for a couple of evenings. It is not the easiest thing to figure out at first but the people there sure can find some good deals.....they are really cheap /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. I just looked over there and they had this deal right near the top of the hot deals forum.....they rate it as only WARM...it still looks pretty good to me. The people over there wouldn't consider it HOT unless it was just about free. I'm sure if you look around over there you will find many deals on multi-function printers MFP's.

Good Luck,
Kevin

I too have a HP.......A v40 all in one print, copy, scan(sheetfed only), & fax. I use it everyday..........It was $199. with a 40.00 giftcard staples rebate.....which I promptly bought a couple more cartridges with. Staples now has the HP double capacity color cartidges in their house brand for 1/2 of the HP price. The print quality is great and the scanner suprised me by actually being decent. I'm sure at this time of year you can get a even better model with more features on sale for less than I paid for mine a year ago...........A little advice.........Spend a little more on the machine and you'll spend less on ink. Good luck shopping !! Tom

I bought a BROTHER color inkjet.

It was the worst piece of computer related equipment I ever bought.

It did nothing well or even acceptable - NO MORE BROTHERS.

HP always makes a good piece of equipment.

Good Luck

I was looking at the HP PSC 2410XI but couldn't find any reviews. I did find reviews for the HP PSC 2410 though (all great reviews).

I'm guessing it's the same thing, except maybe the XI might be a newer model?

I've owned a HP R80 for the past couple years. I like it because it has a flatbed scanner. It prints ok color for web pages and minor color text/printing, but isn't good at photos - I guess it can't do anything despite being an "all-in-one".

My HP-IIIP laser printer is still chuggin' along after 10 years. I've got a Belkin switch that allows me to use the laser for hard copy with it's water-resistant ink, and the R80 for color printing and black/color copying.

You'll never go wrong with HP in my opinion.

I had an HP. Can't remember the model number but could not get it to work with my computer at all. Spent hours with HP on the phone and finally was told to send it back. It was connected to a Dell Dimension XP Home Edition. It would work as a printer but could not scan or fax with it. I finally bought a printer and then a scanner and kept them as separte machines. Takes up more room but works.

I believe the xi has to do with how the printer is packaged. It’s been a while since I looked in to the letters after the number for HP products. I'm sure someone will correct me, but the xi means it does not come with manuals.

They are on a CD. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

You will also need the USB cable. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Ever since you posted this, I've been trying to think of the model number of the HP that I used for several years that did it all: print/copy/fax/scan (I know it was either an Office Jet or Desk Jet model). It always worked just fine, as it was meant to work, but there were two features I didn't like. It printed in either color or black & white, but would only copy and fax in black & white and it wasn't a "flat bed" model so anything to be copied or faxed had to be fed through the sheet feeder. So when I bought this Dell computer, I also got a HP Office Jet G55 (which I'm now using). It's a flat bed print/copy/scan, but faxes have to go through the computer software. But that works. The G85 would have been a better choice, but Dell didn't have that model available. And I don't know whether either is available anymore.

We have a Brother (MF8200 or something) at my wife's Quilt Shop and a Lexmark X83 at home.

Both have flatbed scanners which she needs when she copies and re-sizes patterns. Both are color ink-jet. The Brother also prints photos right off the memory card. Niether of them scan or print photos very well but work fine for basic text-based or line-art printer/scanner/fax work.
